We are delighted to be able to showcase original paintings of the area by local painter Dermod Ruddock.
Dermod’s paintings are inspired by light, colour, dramatic landscapes and the wonders of nature.
Encouraged by his mother and an inspirational art teacher at secondary school, he has enjoyed drawing and painting for most of his life. After a career in graphic design and primary teaching, and many years painting part-time, with exhibitions all over the UK, he decided to turn all his energies to a career in painting about 12 years ago.
For him, lighting and colour are vital… it could be a storm over a Welsh bay… or vibrant siesta time on a Greek island… or deep shadows as evening falls over the Northern fells. His influences include impressionists, expressionists and colourists, such as Cezanne, Kandinsky, de Vlaminck, Matisse, Peploe and Diebenkorn. All these great painters help him create work that leaps off the canvas.
Every painting captures a moment in time. Each is colourful, exuberant, bursting with life…and extremely special…
This collection reflects the wonderful scenery around this area and also further afield on Anglesey. All the paintings are for sale providing you with a unique souvenir of your stay. They are all framed and ready to be hung, and will be a lasting reminder for you, and family and friends for years to come.
Dermod creates his work in studios in Morfa Nefyn and Clitheroe, Lancashire, with paintings in galleries in North Wales and North West England. His paintings are held in private collections across Great Britain, Europe, Australia and North America. They are much loved by their owners.
