To find the beach, walk out of the drive and turn left. Head straight down the road, and across the crossroads in the middle of the village. Continue straight ahead until you see a block of apartments on the left and turn right down the road opposite.

Alternatively, don’t turn right but keep going straight and up the hill, you will reach the golf course. Continue straight through the golf course and onto the footpath. If you follow the footpath eventually it will split as you pass through some earthworks which are all that remain of the iron age fort. The left fork will take you on to the lifeboat station, and the right fork will take you to Porthdinllaen village on the beach, and the Tŷ Coch pub.

A longer but more scenic route to the beach involves heading straight for the coastal path. Exit the hotel and cross the road. Enter the field to the left of the houses opposite. Cross the fields towards the new build houses. When you reach the main road head left a few yards to the side line by the playground (you’ll also find a convenient dog poo bin here). Follow this lane as it winds its way towards the coast. You’ll reach the coastal path just as the lane turns sharply right (you’ll be able to see the sea by then). You can follow the lane into Nefyn and join the beach there, or you can head left down a track that looks suspiciously like someone’s drive, but turns into a cliff top pathway where the big house’s drive actually begins. You can then follow that path with glorious views of Porthdinllean ahead of you.
