RNLI
The Porthdinllaen Lifeboat station houses one of the largest boats in the area, unsurprisingly perhaps when you know that this lifeboat covers the coastline from Caernarfon to Aberdaron.
The RNLI is a charity principally funded by donations and legacies. Most of the members of its lifeboat crews are unpaid volunteers. Porthdinllaen Lifeboat station is one of 238 covering the coastlines of the UK and in the Republic of Ireland. Crews rescued on average 22 people a day in 2015. The institution has saved some 140,000 lives since its foundation, at a cost of more than 600 lives lost in service.
Porthdinllaen Crew Comfort Fund
This fund exists to directly thank the volunteer crew of the Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Crew for their extraordinary work throughout the year. It is used to pay for things like their Christmas dinner and the smart jackets you see them wearing about the village. Whilst the RNLI understandably insists that the crew mustn’t ask for donations for this fund we, as independent members of the community, would like to facilitate donations to directly thank our local crew.
