We bought the hotel in early 2020, completing in the first week of Lockdown.
Initially we thought, at least that gives us some time to redecorate, and so made a good start on the ground floor. But then we realised that as we’d never experienced the place running at capacity (or indeed at all the first time round) we didn’t know that there weren’t any major works that needed doing. For example, it would have been frustrating to say the least to discover after refitting the bathrooms that the plumbing isn’t up to the job of simultaneous showers!
Our solution is to operate a series of short periods of being open for a few weeks or so and then closing for a couple of weeks: to discover what works well and what needs addressing from a functional perspective before completing the cosmetic works.
If the décor therefore still needs an update in some areas please bear with us, it is a work in progress.
